CDC updates list of possible COVID-19 symptoms

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its list of possible COVID-19 symptoms. Previously the agency had listed only fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The new list of symptoms expands “shortness of breath” to include difficulty breathing and adds the following six symptoms: chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and a new loss of taste or smell. It’s important to note that symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the coronavirus.

Tips: If you’re conducting employee health screenings, you should update your process to include these new symptoms. We recommend that you bookmark and regularly review the CDC website because the agency’s guidance continues to evolve and it’s important to keep up with the most recent developments.
