Federal contractors must use new disability self-ID form by 7/25/23

Employers with federal contracts must begin using a revised version of the voluntary disability self-identification form for applicants and employees no later than July 25, 2023. The existing form has an expiration date of May 31, 2023, but the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) wanted to give employers 60 days’ notice of the changes and didn’t obtain approval of the revisions from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) until April 25, 2023. The revised version is valid until April 30, 2026.

Tips: Federal contractors with at least 50 employees and a federal contract worth at least $50,000 must give applicants and new hires the opportunity to self-identify as individuals with disabilities, using the OFCCP’s approved language. In addition, covered employers must resurvey the entire workforce at least every five years, with one reminder in between. Vigilant recommends annual resurveys of disability status, to ensure records are up to date and that the distribution of the survey isn’t accidentally overlooked. Update your current processes with the new forms. For more guidance, see the OFCCP’s FAQs on disability self-ID and our newly updated Model Form, Invitation to Self-Identify.
